The Lupine Dog – A dog as nature intended.
The purpose of the W.O.L.F. is firstly to be an educational service providing information about the true nature of wolf alike dogs and wolfdogs. Secondly, we provide support and welfare services including associations with experts in training, biology and welfare/rescue. As well as our global services, we facilitate local ‘Chapter Representatives’ who can provide specific localised support and information. Finally, we provide a registry and regulatory structure for ethical breeders and responsible owners of wolf alike dogs and wolfdogs around the globe with our Lupine Dog breed development programme.
The goal of the Lupine Dog breeding programme is to re-create the health and vitality of the naturally evolved canine, removing all symptoms of physical extremism, but with a well developed social companion nature. They should possess a natural, wolf-like appearance, poise and ease of movement – however unlike a wolf they are behaviourally adapted to a domestic environment.
The Lupine Dog carries several features which make it unique. Firstly, Lupine Dogs will only be registered from breeders who are signed up to our strict Code of Ethics. Secondly, we allow out-crossing and encourage bloodline sharing across our international network, evaluating each generation for breed quality to ensure consistency to type. Thirdly, we utilise a Lupine Classification System, which gives an indication to the degree of adaptability to the modern environment that each dog may be expected to show. This system enables potential owners to find the Lupine Dog that best matches their lifestyle and environment whilst providing breeders the opportunity to follow their breeding goals and remain united under the W.O.L.F.’s ethical and responsible breeding practices.
